A Stye is red lump near the edge of your eyelid. It may be painful or annoying. The medical name for a stye is hordeolum.Why it occurs?
It is usually a bacterial infection. Staphylococcus aureus is common bacterium which cause this condition. It may also occurs for chronic inflammation along the edge of the eyelid.
What are the Symptoms?
- A small, red, painful lump on the upper or lower eyelid near the base of an eyelash that is similar to a boil or a pimple
- Tearing
- Tenderness of the eyelid
- Eyelid swelling
- Itching, burning or a feeling of having something in the eye
- Crusting of the eyelid margins
- Droopiness of the eyelid
- Blurred vision
